Peyronie's disease

Peyronie’s disease is development of fibrous tissue in the penis that results in a new bend in the erect penis.
Peyronie’s disease usually occurs in men over 50 years of age. It can make the erection painful, less rigid and intercourse difficult. If your penis has always bent to the right or left side, this is a normal variant and not Peyronie’s.

Can Peyronie’s be treated?
In a third of cases, Peyronie’s disease spontaneously resolves over a few years. Anti-inflammatory creams, vitamin E, radiotherapy and injections into the thickened tissue have been used, but with unproven benefit. In extreme cases, surgery may be considered. This can all be discussed during a consultation.
